Yes, I really think that this Fashion Show looks better than the VSFS because this one is still about the fashion. It took place in Sydney yesterday during the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival and you gotta admit that it looks A LOT like VS. I posted more infos here
Now enjoy the pics and tell me what you think...

I haven't watched the show, but judging from those pictures the production value was significantly lower.

I can't really comment on the "fashion value" except say that those few pictures you posted don't showcase great fashion in my opinion. To be honest, it looks a bit "cheap", like a dumped-down version of VS, although that probably means the clothes are something you can actually wear on a day-to-day basis, and maybe that's what you meant. Still, it's not as interesting to look at; the outfits look almost too basic (lack of creativity?).

But of course VS "fashion shows" are more entertainment spectacles designed to promote Victoria's Secret and their models, not so much their clothes or fashion in general.

I have high expectations for this year's VS show since VS has now officially gone back to their roots in terms of styling. If you look at their most recent magazines and commercials, and the preview for the upcoming Supermodel Obsessions book featuring Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima, it's clear that VS has now gone away from "sleazy-sexy" and back to "classy-sexy" like the VS / MegaBrand CEO announced they would.

So perhaps this year we will see something more similar to the 2003 and pre-2003 shows (2005 was my personal favorite though).

I'm excited for two other reasons: The show will be in Miami and Adriana will be wearing the fantasy bra. I also suspect that high-fashion models such as Natasha Poly and Hana Soukupova will be back this year. Natasha was receiving some award last year and I expect Hana will be back as well since she'll be doing promotional work for VS next week.

Hehe... I guess I sounded a lil bit too serious.
Of course you cant really compare this to VS... what I posted is just a "normal" fashion show....nothing big and fancy as VSFS. I was just surprised to find another lingerie fashion show and wanted to share it with everyone. But I really like those pics more than the VSFS07...gosh.....they better improve this year.

Yea, I agree. I was quite happy with the 2007 show at first, but mostly because Adriana (my personal favorite) had had such a lackluster year in 2007 and then she surprised me positively by looking better in the 2007 show than she did in the 2006 show. However, after getting a little distance and re-watching the 2007 show with newfound objectivity and less Adriana-bias, I wasn't really sure it was much better than the 2006 show, if better at all. In fact, the 2006 was probably more classy and the Spice Girls performance of 2007 was disastrous (although it probably helped the 2007 show supersede the 2006 show in terms of viewer numbers).

With the recent paradigm shift within VS, however, I feel quite confident that 2008 will at least top 2006 and 2007. It could be mere wish-thinking on my part, but before the 2007 show I had a bad feeling which is probably why I was more excited than I should have been when Adriana did better than I had expected. I'm trying to keep my expectations low for this year, but I'd be lying if I said they weren't significantly higher than last year (unlike last year, I have a "good feeling"). Now all we need is for VS to meet them, or better yet, surpass them. Miami, here we come Smiler

LOL...thanx for explaining your thoughts so well hehe

It's crazy that so many people are waiting anxiously for this show...hopeing that VS will get back to their 2003/2005 style.

I really think 2007 was a disaster and curiously I also liked it when I watched it for the first time....like you....but then second time and I noticed soooo many things that bother me...overall it was tacky and exagerrated when it should have been sexy in a classy way.

So to stay on topic here...and explain why I opened this thread...when I saw those pics of the Sydney FS I thought "Look....a lingerie fashion show...probably low budget...no famous models...and STILL I like it better than VSFS07"

I know that VSFSs are not about the fashion anymore....but maybe thats the problem...there is toooo much that distracts from the fashion and the beauty of the models and so I think its nice to pay attention to those smaller fashion shows and realize that a mult million dollar budget is NOT necessary to create a classy sexy fashion show. I can't compare those fashion shows

that Sydney event is a real fashion show whereas VS is an entertainment show. so, none of them is better than the other one since the first one introduces dress while VS just satisfies our eyes.

a question

does Jennifer Hawkins, the one in last 3 pics, appear in any other campaigns or shows? I just noticed her and she looks cute Smiler

I like how VS spends so much money to glam up their events, but that is exactly what I hate about them too! They miss out the natural part many a time... lower profile shows/designers keep it simple and stay true and that gets me !
