I know how hard it is to choose from five songs, for me anyway, but I was curious to see what people came up with. Mine are as follows; in no particular order:
Ever fallen in love (with someone you shouldn't've) - Buzzcocks
Staralfur - Sigur Ros
Lights- Scissor Sisters
Changes - David Bowie
Games Without Frontiers - Peter Gabriel
This is a really really hard thing to do; i'm not sure if these are really my favourites and given the choice, I would have added a load more Bowie songs!
hmmmm my top 5 fav songs... it`s hard to decide!!!! here are the one`s that I didn't get bored of yet... 1. Andain - Beautiful things 2. Andain - Here is the house 3. Inner State - Changes (the mix) 4. David Guetta - The World Is Mine 5. Roger Sanchez - Lost

I used to have a small mp3 player so i had to limit my playlist to about 30 something odd songs... man it always took me forever to choose them. And then when i found another one i loved and was trying to decide which to take off...
I can give you my favorite classical piece i've ever played though (sorry about the randomness but just got into a classical mood after watching a commercial)
Intermezzo from Cavelleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni. Man that is an amazing piece.
Another random favorite in my pile of favorites
Our Lady Peace, Somewhere out there... Saw them in a small concert a few years back, was the best freakin concert i've ever been to

Too difficult to choose, but off the top of my head, and without choosing one artist twice:
"Every You Every Me" by Placebo. "Dirty Laundry" by Bitter:Sweet. "Forgiven" by Silver. "Time Is Running Out" by Muse. "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" by Panic! at the Disco.

5 of the songs that I really enjoy hearing (I've been around for a while so these have been favorites for years):
The Pretender by Jackson Browne
Jungleland by Bruce Springsteen
Unfinished Symphony by Massive Attack
Runaway Train by Soul Asylum
Catch Me I'm Falling by Pretty Poison
I agree with the idea that it is just about impossible to single out 5 songs that are the best. But for right now these 5 are songs that I still enjoy hearing over and over again...

ps - I will continue thinking about this question and may have a revised list available in another week or two!

Metallica - One (riveting) Don McLean - Vincent (poetic) Björk - Bachelorette (haunting) Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (mesmerizing) Beethoven - Quasi Una Fantasia (beautiful) ***
*** This is the most beautiful piece of music ever conceived. So simple, yet so incredibly profound.
My 5 runner-ups:
Johnny Cash - Hurt (painful) Deep Purple - Child In Time (hypnotic) Opeth - The Night And The Silent Water (transcendental) Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (sorrowful) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (nostalgic)
And of course...
Adriana Lima
Uh shit, wrong thread...
