Depends on what you mean by it. Smiler

I believe that in a loose scene of the term we all are destined for something, and that the future can in fact be predicted.

However I also believe in free will.
And that in the end, we all choose our fates or "destiny"

One could argue that both cannot exist, and say that the only reason you did something was because it was your fate.

Say for example you hear that you are going to die one day, so you stay home instead of going to work, only to be killed by a robber.

One could argue that you died because it was your destiny, and you had no choice in the matter.

However, did fate really choose for you to die that way? or was it simply a prediction of what you would do, and the consequences their of.

Personally... I believe it is the second.
and that while our fates may be known, we still are ultimately the ones who choose them.

I don't believe in destiny at all. What you mentioned is similar to the theory of "soft determinism" where the basic outlines of life are already padded out but the exact details can vary depending on the choices you make. I don't believe that either. I don't think there is a reason for everything that happens - while most are consequences of one's actions, some occurrences are purely random.

Wow u are completly scientific and logical..thats nice..
destiny is a very complicated path which is already planned before, you are given several ways to choose your will(but all comes in it)the
conditions will be set such a way that you will eventually take the path you are destined to.Several factors such as luck, coincidence, moods of people etc help on the way. This is what i feel.

on Mx we have 3 basic principles:
"What it is, it is" (similar meaning to the USA "shit happens", also a good one Smiler )
"whatever God wants to be" (but that is when you are taking a risk and go for it)
"when is your time, is your time" (specially when you get out of a potentially deadly risk woot )

Destiny is contrary to free will. When asking if we believe in destiny, what is being asked. 1.) Do we believe that destiny controlls our lives, or 2.) Do we believe every one hs a destiny that they can choose to live out or not. I believe in the second, but the first is illogical.
Syllogism: if destiny controls our lives, and things controlled have no will, than destiny excludes the freedom of choice. That is silly.

I believe in the second. I believe each man has his own destiny that he can either fulfill or lose.

I do not believe in destiny we make our choices for our selfs. Yet when something bad happens to us, or something good people recognize that as destiny, well its just a concidence. Our Future isn't predetermined. We make choices for ourselves.

Even if you believe in God...God gave us the freedom to do what we want. But if you want to seek "spiritual rewards" you have to follow in HIS path. (Sorry got off-topic) My point is...even if you are a God-Believer destiny doesn't excist. We make our future for ourselves. Its the outcomes that are the most important.

I believe!

I get too much science and math to deny it!

when you consider time as another dimension (like they do), it would mean that the 13 other dimensions (3 of which we can imagine) move as time advances.
This would mean that a certain point in space would move like a bound vector as time evolves. We can not (or not yet) move backward in time. You should consider time/space as a scene in theater and someone is watching and seeing time pass and space with it, but as much as he wants to he can not turn back to the first scene.

Other scientist think that time is infinite, which is only possible when you consider the timeline to be a circle (space= a 4+ dimensional circle).

I hope i know enough English to explain it good.

This is my opinion...

I think destiny and free will can both be in place. You are free to make certain choices but when you do (or don't) you trigger a kind of mini-destiny that doesn't change untill you come to an other choice.

that doesn't make sense thou. destiny is something that is predetermined without our doing. if we make our own choices then the future outcomes will be our doing, destiny is something that comes on its own. we aren't respocncible for it. so its two different things.

No, i don't think that.

And how do you know sure that 'destiny' and 'future' are two different things?

There is no answer for that. And if there is, than we are doing on earth and also why overalls are fashion now.
